Dear Duniyawaalo (People of the World),
In my previous post, I shared how I balanced my marathon training with birthday celebrations during Week 8. Week 9 has been different, focusing on a scaled-back training week that became a memorable family experience.
Alpine Race 10-Miler: A Perfectย Fit
This week, my training plan called for a 10-mile long run, perfectly timed with the Alpine Race 10-Miler happening on the same day. It was just 6 miles from our home, so I encouraged my wife and two boys to join me for the event by running the 5K. It was a joy to run as a family, making the race even more special.
Achieving My Fastest Pace for theย Season
Iโm thrilled to share that I achieved a 12:01-minute mile pace during the 10-miler, marking my fastest pace for a long run this season. This accomplishment feels like a significant milestone as I build strength and endurance.
Training Adjustments
In addition to the race, I ran 4 miles during the week. I had planned another 4-mile run but decided to take a 3.5-mile walk instead, allowing my legs some recovery time after last weekโs 16-mile run. Due to a busy work schedule, I only completed one strength training session.
Nutrition andย Progress
I stuck to my plan of eating healthy and nutritious food 80% of the time, allowing myself a couple of light beers to celebrate the week. Iโm pleased to report that my weight dropped another pound, bringing me down to 260 pounds from my starting weight of 267.
Looking Ahead
Next week, Iโm gearing up for my planned 18-mile long run. With warmer weather forecasted for the weekend, Iโm considering running it on Friday to avoid the heat.
