Dear Duniyawaalo (People of the World),
Today on this wonderful spring morning as I am enjoying my tea, I am grateful for all the mistakes I have made throughout my life. I would not be the person that I am today if it were not for all my mistakes, even those that had severe consequences. My mistakes have helped me become wiser, more compassionate and resilient.
Over the years I have learnt to embrace the idea that each and every mistake I made is a learning opportunity for growth. Everyone inevitably makes mistakes, and while it is easy to dwell on the negativity, I have come to recognize the value in these experiences and how they have contributed to my transformative growth and development. Learning from my mistakes have helped me cultivate a growth mindset, a belief that I can learn, grow and improve through my experiences.
I will be the first to admit that I have made a plethora of mistakes and I have experienced the impact of mistakes firsthand. One major mistake I made was trusting people who did not have my best interest at heart, and as painful as it was, it helped me understand the significance of being mindful and very selective, genuinely trusting only a handful of people who truly care and accept me for who I am.
Another experience that helped me grow was making the mistake of not speaking up for myself in the workplace. I used to believe that my work would speak for myself and people would recognize my value through my work. I realized that I don’t get paid for time, I get paid the value. I needed to be a strong advocate for myself and clearly highlight the value I bring to the workplace. Eventually I started to see myself grow and got promoted to different roles.
My mistakes have made me more humble and empathetic, helping me recognize that I am not infallible. This has helped me practice self-compassion and forgiveness for myself and for others. By recognizing and acknowledging my own imperfections I am able to better relate and understand struggles of those around me. This has helped me enhance my relationships and promote greater understanding and connection with others.
As I continue to embrace my mistakes, I constantly remind myself that mistakes are essential building blocks that can turn my setbacks into a stepping stone in my journey of self-discovery and growth.
