Embracing Gratitude for the Wisdom of My Body
Dear Duniyawaalo (People of the World),
Today on this wonderful spring morning as I get ready for my day, I am grateful to my body for giving me signals through physical symptoms and sensations. I may not always like what my body is telling me, but I am grateful for its ability to keep me in check and help me achieve long-term health.
As I go about my daily life, my body is constantly providing feedback, whether it’s through a headache from dehydration, stomach discomfort from eating something I shouldn’t have, or even simply feeling tired. All of these serve as signals that need my attention, and tuning into these messages allows me to make the necessary adjustment to my actions and behavior, which is crucial for my overall health and well being.
I am truly fascinated knowing that my body always keeps score. It not only remembers what I eat but also how I feel, and my body efficiently stores all this information and ultimately uses it to inform me that something needs to change. It is all the more reason that I don’t neglect my physical and emotional needs, because my body has a way of reminding me, often through pain, discomfort or even illness.
I have come to learn, listen and respect my body’s messages. I am grateful that I have been able to make positive changes in my lifestyle because of it, thereby improving both my physical and mental health. Recognizing my body's inherent wisdom has allowed me to prioritize self-care.
With my meditation practice I have been able to cultivate a deeper connection with my body. By taking the time to pause and check in with myself every single morning, I have been able to develop a greater awareness of my physical and emotional sensations. This has allowed me to make more informed decisions about my lifestyle.
I constantly remind myself that my body is my companion for life and it’s incumbent upon me to treat it with the care and respect it deserves.
