Embracing Gratitude for the Convenience and Freedom of Home Exercise Equipment
A Gratitude Journal Entry
Dear Duniyawaalo (People of the World),
Today on this wonderful cold morning, I am grateful that I can afford to buy and install exercise equipment at my home. Having the option of working out from the comfort of my own home has been a game-changer, especially during the pandemic when our movements were restricted.
5 years ago I got to a very low point in my life where I knew I had to make some serious changes if I wanted to sustain myself and maintain a healthy lifestyle to ensure a sound mind and body. Working out and running became an important part of my life, and after taking a look at my routine and needs, I decided to install some exercise equipment at home. This included a barbell, weight plates and a workout bench.
Having a home gym also helped alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty that was brought about by the pandemic. It provided me with a sense of stability during such an unparalleled and tumultuous time for everyone. For me personally, my workouts have been pure stress-buster and helped me clear my mind and focus on other areas of my life.
I realize that even though I miss the community atmosphere and resources available at fitness centers, there are times when I don’t feel like leaving my home. This could be due to bad weather, hectic schedule or simply the desire for being alone and working out by myself. Having the option to workout at home has also eliminated any excuses for skipping my workouts.
Being able to workout at home has allowed me to set my pace, choice of music, and not worry about feeling self-conscious around others, enabling me to focus on my workouts without distractions and achieve better results.
Having a home gym has been a blessing for me. I am grateful for the flexibility, stability and personalization it provides, which has been invaluable in my pursuit of a mindful and healthy lifestyle.
