Embracing Gratitude for Crossing the Finish Line at the Chicagoland Spring Half-Marathon
A Gratitude Journal Entry
Dear Duniyawaalo (People of the World),
I am grateful for being able to cross the finish line at the Chicagoland Spring Half-Marathon today, injury-free. This was my third half-marathon, the last one was two weeks ago in Milwaukee.
The weather was good in the beginning but as the race progressed it started to get really hot towards the second half, as the temperature climbed to 80+ degrees.
I was really struggling for the last three miles as we made our way out of the Busse Wood shades and onto the road with hot open sunlight. I kept on going as I knew that I was almost there and seeing other fellow runners running alongside me kept me going.
I am really proud of myself for how I ran my race today. I stuck to my nutrition and hydration plan and executed them well.
I will run some more half-marathons and one 20 miler (Fox Valley) as part of my training for my first marathon at the 2023 Chicago Marathon.
