Embracing Gratitude for Completing 60 Days of the 90 Day Wellness Warrior Challenge
A Gratitude Journal Entry
Dear Duniyawaalo (People of the World),
Today on this wonderful spring morning I am truly grateful that I was able to successfully complete 60 days of my 90 Day Wellness Warrior Challenge.
I have provided some background on this in my first newsletter post on the inception story of One With Oneself.
After completing my half-marathon in December 2022 last year, I had decided to take a break before starting my marathon training for my first marathon in 2023 Chicago marathon. During the break I relaxed and wanted to celebrate my accomplishment. As I got deeper into relaxation and comforted myself with food and drinks, I started to get the same feelings of depression that I had experienced 5 years ago. To cope with it I dug myself deeper and I took more comfort in food and drinks and gained almost 20 Pounds in 3 months.
It reached a point where I told myself that I cannot go on like this. The pain of not doing anything was far worse than any pain I would experience in doing what was needed to get back to my marathon training.
I got a lot of support from my friends and loved ones and as a result I started to dig myself out of the hole. I decided to start a 90 day challenge that focussed on mindfulness, intellectual curiosity and healthy living. I called it a Wellness Warrior Challenge.
I set some simple rules as explained in the graphic below:
More details on the Wellness Warrior challenge is available on my Facebook Post
Many of my friends were inspired and participated in the 90-day challenge and picked some activities from the list.
I have been sharing my progress on Facebook and Instagram hoping to inspire others to start their own journey.
Today I feel humbled, happy, and eternally grateful to inform you all about some of the results that I have achieved at the end of Day 60:
I started my One With Oneself blog/newsletter and wrote one gratitude journal entry post every single day for 60 days in a row. I will continue posting until my 90-day challenge is completed. Eventually, I will be writing more on my newsletter about other things too beyond expressing my gratitude for things I am grateful for.
I have been eating healthy and posting all the food I ate on Facebook and Instagram, and will continue to do so until the challenge is completed.
I have worked out every single day for an average of 45 minutes. It was a combination of running, strength training and walking on rest days.
I ran two more half marathon races
I have been able to stick to my marathon training plan for running my first marathon at the 2023 Chicago Marathon on Oct 08 2023.
I have consumed alcohol three times during the challenge, that too on social occasions only.
Drank at least 1 gallon of water every single day.
I picked up a new hobby of self-learning Guitar on my own using YouTube. I have been learning and practicing every single day of the challenge. I am hoping to be able to play at least one song by the end of the 90-day challenge.
I am also taking a class on Stand Up Comedy Level 1 at The Second City in Chicago. I will be performing a 5 minute set at the end of the training in front of a live audience.
I am happy to inform you that as of Day 60, I have lost 11 Pounds !!!
I will admit that it has not been easy but I am proud of myself for trusting myself and maintaining self-discipline and consistency.
I have 30 more days to go in my 90 Day Challenge and I am looking forward to it.
I am eternally grateful to every single person who has supported me with their kind words of support and encouragement. None of it would have been possible if it was not for all the love and support I received.
I am excited and looking forward to experiencing what it makes of me as a person to reach my goal of completing the 90-day challenge.
❤️ Rajneesh
